Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage, then divide by 100 to get the amount saved. Subtract the amount saved from the original price to get the final price. Example: 25% off $1,200 = $1,200 × 25 ÷ 100 = $300 saving → final price $900.
Sale Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100). The amount saved equals Original Price × Discount% ÷ 100. For example, a 20% discount on $500: saving = $500 × 0.20 = $100; sale price = $500 − $100 = $400.
Divide the sale price by (1 − Discount% ÷ 100). For example, if an item costs $900 after a 25% discount, the original price was $900 ÷ 0.75 = $1,200.
Discounts of 10–30% are common in everyday retail. Sales of 50% or more are typical during clearance events, end-of-season sales, and Black Friday. For price negotiations, a 10–15% ask is usually reasonable without raising concerns.
Multiply the price by 0.20 to find the saving, then subtract from the original. Example: 20% off $500 = $500 × 0.20 = $100 saving → final price $400. Or use this discount calculator: enter $500 as the price and 20 as the discount percentage.
